Bianco Latte

This is a place that you expect to be in Milano. All white, clean design, and a dining room bustling with people. However when you walk in, you will be surprised of it’s vast contrary to anything else in the city. The menu is comprised of gelato and latte-based deserts accompanied by healthy alternative meals- salads, paidinas and pastas.

This restaurant is a refreshing place in the restaurant scene of Milano. It is the perfect brunch spot, or for a leisurely lunch. The salads are great, the gelato is some of the freshest in the city and they have coffees and chocolate being ordered as much as the food.

There is the gelateria in the front an the restaurant in the back, so you can go just for a caffe or desert without having to sit down.

The lines are often long for a table, and the atmosphere is really pleasant, so go when you are not in a rush. But definitely go, especially if you want something with dean and deluca quality in a french provincial all-white atmosphere.

Princi Bakery

You will always see tons of people at the Princi up by the Moscova subway station. It is always packed during lunch or on the weekends for a reason- the bread is awesome. They have a very large sitting area outside where you can enjoy anything from a cappuccino and brioche to a sandwich or focaccia.
Basically it is a stylish bakery that is popular for lunch any day of the week. If you are heading up to 10 Corso Como this weekend or for a walk down Garibaldi, stop here for lunch. Although there are tons of dining establishments nearby, it’s worth a visit to Princi- at least for a light lunch or snack.
There are a few locations in the city, but the one up at Moscovo is pleasant on the weekend. Tel: 202 6599013

Food Art Sushi restaurant

This restaurant is right in Porta Genova- you can see it from the station at the beginning of via Vigevano.

It is a modern and light restaurant and always looks as though it’s empty. But its not and it is a really great little place. Inside there are red paneled wales, white cushioned seating and modern touches like a flat screen tv on the wall- making the ethnic restaurant a little atypical.

The menu is creative, using cartoons to name the dishes, and the sushi is really fresh and delicious. It is a perfect place for lunch with coworkers and then for dinner, it is more of a little romantic gem!

They also have take-away, delivery and catering menu’s so if you live in the area it’s a good option besides pizza since not many places in Milan have delivery. But the atmosphere is really nice, so if you are spending the money to eat sushi in Milan, you may as well make your way and sit in the restaurant!!

Alto Adige Delicatessen

Finding a lunch spot around the duomo that is good food at a fair price is sometimes a challenge. Forget the “pizza” or overpriced salads at one of the outdoor cafes. If you want a quick lunch, or a really good sandwich, head over to Alto Adige in Piazza Santa Maria Beltrade, right off Via Torino.

Alto Adige is the region of South Tirol- the only German speaking region in Italy with a strong Austrian influence. This Alto Adige Delicatessen in Milan bring all the foods from that region here – from Bretzel to strudel to Teewurst.

They have a wide selection of cakes, pastries, and fresh breads. In addition, they have a selection of meats that they slice fresh for you. So you can pick your bread, pick you meat and take it to go or sit in the square to enjoy. Not a unique concept, but here in Milan, it is hard to find a place that will make you a sandwich aside from prosciutto crudo and prosciutto cotto.

There is a lot of options here to choose from, but the women working behind the counter are so friendly, and the food is delicious. Even if you are not in the mood for a sandwich, stop in for some bread to take home or a pastry and Café.

They have a few locations- check the website, but the one near the duomo is quite convenient. Beware that it gets quite busy during lunch!
