It’s hot out, at night the mosquitoes are biting, it’s not quite August vacation, but you need a good escape. For gelato, the perfect place is Grom. With four locations around Milano, one should be in close proximity.
Started in Turin in 2003, Grom has been an instant success all around Italy and now globally. The gelato is made in a centralized location to insure quality and consistency, and also allows Grom to use the best fruits that come out of each region. They have all the standard flavors of any gelateria and two types of cones (not sure why), but the line will solidify the fact that it’s really good. On a weekend night, the line is consistently out the door, so be prepared to wait no matter what time you go.
There are no bells and whistles or no crazy flavors and added desserts here. But when you watch the workers you can tell they take pride in the gelato at Grom, from the ingredients to the special way it is served. So in the end, there is no need for gimmicks, because the gelato speaks for itself.
